If your AirPods won’t charge
If your AirPods won’t charge, try these steps to see if you can get them to charge.
Connect your AirPods to Power
If you have AirPods or AirPods Pro, place your AirPods in the charging case and close the lid. Charge your AirPods and case for at least 15 minutes using the cable that came with your AirPods.
If you have AirPods Max, charge them for at least 5 minutes using the cable that came with them. If you’re not using your AirPods Max, put them in the Smart Case while charging to place them into ultra-low power mode. This can help preserve the battery charge.
If you have a Wireless Charging Case for your AirPods or AirPods Pro and you’re using a Qi-compatible charger, place the case with the status light facing up. The status light should turn on for several seconds, then turn off while continuing to charge. If the light doesn't turn on, reposition the case. If your case still isn’t charging, connect the cable that came with your charging case into the case and a USB power adaptor, and plug the power adaptor into a power source.
Check your cable connections
For AirPods, AirPods Pro or AirPods Max, make sure the charging cable that came with your AirPods is plugged firmly into the charging case and the USB power adaptor, and that the power adaptor is correctly plugged into a working power outlet.
If you have a Wireless Charging Case for your AirPods or AirPods Pro and you’re using a Qi-compatible charger, plug the charging case directly into a power outlet.
Check the charge status
If you have AirPods or AirPods Pro, open the case lid with your AirPods inside and hold your case close to your iPhone or iPad.
If you have AirPods Max, open the Smart Case and hold your case close to your iPhone or iPad. You should see a charging icon next to the battery icon under your AirPods.
Reset your AirPods
When you reset your AirPods, any custom settings you’ve made for your AirPods also reset. You’ll need to restore your custom settings after a full reset.
